I recently read about Louis Armstrong. He grew up in New Orleans in extreme poverty. He is the grandson of slaves and the child of a prostitute. He overcame the harshest of circumstances as a child to become one of the greatest musicians this country has known. It amazes me to think that someone who dealt with such struggles would grow up to sing "What a Wonderful". His influence is incalculable and for that reason I wanted to sketch his face.

Great image, Zachary. Love the foreshortening on the horn. Works well.
Love the broad strokes working into more detailed ones in his face. The color is vibrant and lovely as well. Great piece!
